Should I add some wood over the nextboxes?

Hi guys! I just started transitioning my older birds to the coop I built. And behind the curtain is their nestboxes. They are taking to jumping on the curtain/shower rod and roosting too, which means they will poop in the nestboxes if their bums are over it. Should I put a piece of plywood over the nest boxes, like a little roof? Then they will have to go through the curtain to get to the nest boxes, instead of jumping over it if they prefer that method. Any suggestions of improvement for this? Thanks in advance.

I would put a slanted roof on the nest boxes..... Ive never had curtains on mine. I dont think they need them. They need to feel safe... but I dont think they need to lay an egg in complete privacy.
Maybe thats just me though....

The roof over my nest boxes isn't slanted enough, and birds will sit and poop on it. Make it about 45degrees from level, and it will be better. Leave out the curtains then.

I use plastic storage tubs for nest boxes cut the fronts out every now and then two birds in one box.. Some of birds are extra lorge
