One of my 4 chicks (which i believe are all pullets) is larger than the other three and their comb is a darker red then the others! Should i be worried that this is a roo it might be that it just is a few days older than the others as i got them off craigslist.
thanks for any help!!

It could be older but it could diffently be a rooster does it have saddle
Feathers hackle(pointed neck) feathers or sickle feathers (if he/she is 4months old you can surely see the saddle feathers).

It could be a little early because they are only around 4 weeks old

Ah then yeah. I know that a dark red come could be a rooster but i had females that had darker comes then the only rooster we got so i say wait and see if they devolope saddle feathers thats the best way honestly. Our rooster developed his saddle feathers at four/three months old.

Ok thanks!

At four weeks old pullets combs are small and orange, roosters are usually already pink. Also pullets feather out faster, little roosters are a little slower.

I wish mine had played by that rule. It would have been nice to have known little brats i kept thinking we had three or more roosters and only had one lol. They so funny i think they liked messing with me they stalk me now and demand attention.
