I have one chick that is 5 1/2 weeks and three that are 6 1/2 weeks outside. I moved them out last weekend then the next day we had a cold front and rain come in. It's been raining a lot this week and I'm worried I need to bring them in. They have a tiny coop in their grow out pen, but choose to stand in the wet cold mud instead.

It's getting down into mid 40's at night and staying in 50's day. It's the wet I'm worried about though.
What should I do?

Put a heat lamp in the coop. Im assuming you have one from thd brooder. Then, shut them in the coop if you have to, just get them out of the rain.

I don't have electricity out there, so I'd need to bring them back to the house.

Here is where they are. The grass that was in the pen is completely gone. (This is my grow out pen and hutch coop. It's inside our big run up against the big coop). There is grass in our big run because we only use it for vacations.

Do they go back inside to sleep? If so, they know where the safe (dry) place is and are just fine. Young chickens aren't helpless infants -- they are fully capable of moving to the dry indoors and their instincts will tell them when to do so. The mud might seem cold to your feet but it really isn't a big deal for them.

Thanks debid. I went out today and got sand for the grow out pen. Put that in there and going to tarp the top and a side. They really seem fine, so I guess im going to leave them
