Should I buy my 2 week old chick a playmate?

I've read they are social and should not be alone.

Also this chick will end up going to a free-range farm(though I really want to keep it), so would it be better if he had a playmate?

Then they both would go to the farm together.

Chickens do need other chickens, so getting him a friend or two is a good thing.

Thanks I will do that then, but his pal will be about 2 weeks younger.

Here's the chick, it's mother was killed by an animal and none of her other eggs hatched.

Oh, how do you get a pic to come up here?
I hit "Img" and it gave me this....

good idea to give a chick a buddy.
but if you don't, chicks need attention
so you would be the chicks buddy.
But still I think it needs a playmate.
