Came across this posting on Craigslist. 8-week old straight run mixed-breed chicks.

They are selling for $4 each, said they are very healthy. I asked what breeds were used in the cross, and they don't know other than a BR, as they bought them from a hatchery and weren't told the other half.

Are these Black Sex Links? I have my doubts since there are white markings on the solid black birds' faces.

They have 40 of them. Is that a good deal? Are they easy to tell apart by comb size at this age? I bought a bunch of BSL from Tractor Supply and got all males. :( Don't want that again if these are just all BSL.

Any ideas? (obviously the red one isn't a BSL)

Thanks in advance!

It cost me $3 to raise them to 8 weeks in PA. I would buy them. They look pretty cool

The red one is pretty! Im no pro but i see a lot of pullets. I think its a good deal. Considering they are already all feathered. Just look them over carefully. No runny noses. All active and lively.

If those are barred rock cross, they are roos, Black sexlinks are usually RIR Roos over a Barred Rock Hen the males take the barred form there mothers and the pullets are solid black with red doen the front of the neck, The black ones in the above pics looks like Black Australorp the first looks like an EE

Yeah I'm just not sure which gender the BR was, and neither do the sellers. :/
I, too, thought a lot of those looked like pullets. My roos all had big red combs by 8 weeks and were obvious roos.

Kind of looks like a Wyandotte cross in the top right of the second picture.

Just sitting here wondering if I actually NEED more chickens. :P Chicken math is definitely hitting me at this point. I just LOVE the thought of a really diverse flock.
