So should I candle or not?

And, the less often you open the incubator, the more stable the temp and humidity inside will stay! ....better for the embryos!!

Corey, I usually wait till at least Day Five and I have a very good candler. It's best to wait another day or two. With those Ameracanas I sent you, you won't need to candle after Day 14 because you probably won't be able to see a thing by then except DARK. All of Charlotte's eggs in my bator are developing very well so you should have good fertility on them. Crossing fingers for you!

I say it depends on what color eggs you have. If they are white eggs, I can frequently see veins on day 3, definitely can see stuff by 5. If they are darker eggs, its better to wait.

And yes... I am an obsessive candler. LOL!

Well, there you go. Follow what logic you will .

I candle when it is logical for me to candle.
I candle on Day 7 when I want to add new eggs to the bator.
IF there are duds, I want to get them OUT of the way to make room for hatchable eggs.

Good luck,
Lisa

That's a good description! I love that! Seriously, though, you really need to have some candling experience and a really good light to do it that early with brown eggs, but once I had to know early. Sometimes I am incubating just to test fertility and then early candling is called for.
