Should I do anything special for my rooster?

I don't want to sound uneducated but I'm just getting used to having my rooster ( I purchased all pullets as chicks and she turned out to be a he) anyway he is about 6-7 months and he has stated to try to crow and the poor thing sounds horse or something like that. I assume this is just part of him figuring out how to crow but should I do anything particular for him while he is preparing to crow? If this is a dumb question I hope I provided a good laugh :)

Oh he'll perfect that crow. It'll get louder and louder and then you'll have to decide how much you like him. Some will crow all day long. I don't put up with those. Always morning crows and then they help me manage the flock by crowing when out of water or food or if a dog comes into the yard.

He'll definitely work it out. My 1st hatched cockerel started crowing around 2 months old and he sounded like something from Jurassic Park. He's getting close to 4 months old now and he's got it down pretty good and likes to have crowing contests with his father sometimes. That first month he started crowing was hilarious, though.

3 out of my 4 chicks have turned out to be boys and they crow. One is very loud, where as the other 2 sound hoarse like it must hurt their throat. I think of it like their voice is breaking and soon they will have a deeper crow the bigger they get ;-) Mine are only 10 weeks old and one started crowing at 5 weeks old!
