Should I feel remorse for the raccoons that my dog kills?

So you are comparing someone's child to a racoon? Really bro, not only does that post
not make much sense but it's inflamatory and a breach of BYC's flaming rules. I'd edit
it out if I were you. Just some friendly advice... I will edit out my response and quote
if you decide to do that.

Are you serious? My gosh I certainly hope not. That is a ridiculous statement and comparison.

I am going to chuckle because there is no way humanly possible you are serious with that post.

Edit: PC...ummm yeah.

To original post... No you should not feel too bad. The raccoon is being a raccoon and the dog is being a dog and doing his job. No other way to look at it.

Raccoons are heartless little cold blooded killers. Unfortunately for them, so am I when it comes to predator control at my place.
It's my job to protect the chicken's I have in my care. Trap or shoot, & out to the field for the Turkey Vultures to pick clean. Circle of Life is the way I see it. Coons, dogs, coyotes, etc have a short life span if they are caught ANYWHERE near my chickens.

Someone I agree with littlechickenracingteam, up to a point. Coon are tasty if roasted or bar-b-qued. Most of those that know me and have read my post know how I feel about predators. Any predator human or animal that goes after my animals, will have to deal with my two good friends (Smith & Wesson). As for putting a child and a chicken in the same catagory, that is insane. I will eat a chicken at the drop of a hat, but I have yet to eat a child.

I completely agree, the OP asked for opinions and that's what was given, you do not have to agree with it..and to be honest, I do agree with Jorday.....

Feel bad that I have to kill raccoons, sure. Feel bad that I did kill a raccoon, nope. Raccoon or my chickens... easy. No regrets there. If my dog does it for me that just means less work for me. However considering I have a few huge boar raccoons that make my akita look small I tend to call her off before she catches them. She catches them really easy. Coons aren't as fast as rabbits and she outruns one of those about monthly. Plus nearly any opening in the buildings, brush, or junk around here that they can fit into she can force herself into.
