Is your male vaccinated? Do you have flocks with mareks or vaccinated flocks within a few hours of your flock? Do you practice secure biosecurity?

My opinion is yes. Whenever I buy chicks I make sure to have them vaccinated. Vaccination is not a substitute for good biosecurity, but is instead a part of it. Vaccines are a cheap and effective way to help prevent disease within your flock, and on the plus side, you won’t have to feed medicated feed, which may reduce your feed bill. I don’t know if it’s something your concerned about (this isn’t something I do, and I’m not sure if you’re selling bantam eggs) but if you wish to market any eggs as organic, you can’t feed medicated feed, so in that case I would HIGHLY recommend getting the birds vaccinated.
