My little silkie went broody about 2 months ago (yes, it has been almost that long). I gave her some eggs to sit on, one started developing, but got eaten at about 15 days by one of the other hens
, and the other eggs either didn't develop or went bad. Sooo, I gave her 2 more eggs on 3/30. One is from my EE and one is from my black copper marans. I can't see into the marans egg to see if it is developing, but there is no smell coming from it. The EE egg is/was definitely growing, and when I candle it, I see only black inside. But, it hasn't hatched. At this point, is it safe to assume these eggs are dead
. I have her locked in a cage because the other hens were kicking her of the nest and I was afraid the eggs would get eaten again or left for too long. The weather has been unusually cool, and she is a tiny chicken. Could cooler temps. delay the hatching this long?
