Should I have my new chicks vacc. for Mareks?

I am ordering chicks soon from the same place I got last year's flock, and I am wondering whether I should have the new chicks vaccinated (an option the hatchery offers), for either their own safety or that of the present flock?

Would you vaccinate them, or not?

If I were you I would do your research, there are many posts on BYC about Mereks. I personally do not, i don't see the need in my area. I never have and have never had a problem. Although if you hear of Mereks in your area, I would vaccinate. Personal choice really! Your likely to get a huge variety of answers....do your research that's the main thing to remember. It's a do or don't. Your chickens will probably be fine if you don't but if it's a problem where you live, it's relatively inexpensive. About 15 cents a chick.
