hey guys, my silkie hatched one baby and is doing GREAT! there outside and thriving, i have an opportunity in getting 1-2 more chicks around the same age, should i get them for the other chick and mom? would be it better for both? i WONT be keeping the new chicks and will need to place them when they get older...

you should chickens of any age are social animals, so it would be best.

I think it would be good but remember about quarantining. If they were to pass somethin all those birds could get sick or worst case scenario, die.

thats very true, dang i don't know if its worth it...... how long would the quarantine period be? my chick is just 3 weeks today. so by the time there ready........ its probably not worth it.

ok so someone else just got in contact with me and said that they had cochin x silkie crosses born today and im more than welcome to them..... do i still need to quarantine at a day old?

If you're not going to keep them then I wouldn't. All you need to do is give the chick a lot of attention. I've purposefully raised chicks by themselves so they'd bond to me. I carried the chick in my coat around most of the day. They love it and now as adults still try to crawl under my coat. having chickens that are bonded to you is the funnest thing ever :)

lol she is with the mom, she is a single chick. so shes really not going to bond to me because she has her mommy
