I just replaced an old 2 gal. galvanized double wall fount waterer. After washing it out I filled it up, and noticed that with the outer top off of it water leaks from the tank into the drinking tray, through the seam down at the bottom. Without putting the top on it would eventually just overflow all the water... but the top creates a vacuum and stops it waaaaaay up at the rim of the drinking tray, just shy of overflowing.
I checked the old one I'm replacing & it doesn't leak a bit at that bottom seam. Is the seal of that seam unimportant because of the vacuum seal of the top, or should I return the waterer?
Thanks
