Should I separate my drake?

I have four eight month old ducks right now and a single six 1/2 month old drake (Bugs). Bugs has been targeting one of my ducks more often (she's got a bald spot on the back of her head) but mostly ignoring the others. For now they all hang out together during the day and in the duck house at night. I've been wondering if it would be good to start separating them at night (specifically to give my one girl a break). I thought about doing it tonight, and put Bugs on the other side of a wire-fence partition in the duck house, but he kept crying and sticking his head through the fencing to try and be with the others. I felt bad and was worried he would hurt himself so I let him back out. Now I'm not sure what to do.

What are your all's experiences separating (or not separating) drakes?

i have 4 ducks (two pekin drakes, a khaki drake, and a rouen hen) and have to keep them separated in pairs 9-10 months of the year. how big is your duck house? if you can fit a puppy playpen in there that's the best way to separate and he won't get hurt in there, and he can still see the other ducks

Another possibility is separating the targeted female andcanother to keep her company. I have aways used a dog crate until 2 months ago when i found that using a temporary dog pen folded into partitions also works. I currently have a special needs pekin drake permanently in a dog crate and a muscovy that is some times aggressive and sometimes not but getting into skirmishes with another muscovy in a partitioned off part of a temporary dog pen.

I would hope that in the long term your females will be fine sharing space with a lone drake.

I agree with @ruthhope
Maybe separate her and one other girl so she isn’t alone
This may help him to bond to the other girls as well
I have a drake who loves one girl
He goes crazy if he can’t be beside her at all times
But he will go run and mate other girls then come right back to his wife
He is a young drake and will branch out to the other girls in time but may still always favour this one girl
