i just got two rescue silkies and they arent laying yet but im expecting them to lay soon. when they do i want to try to make one of them a foster mother by letting her go broody and then buying her some chicks. When and if i do this should i separate the tow silkie hens from each other, and when should i introduce the mother hen and her chicks to the other hen? Ive heard stories of silkies helping each other raise the chicks together, would this ever happen if i left the two hens together with the chicks, and would hey both have to be broody to do this? If i put chicks in with the hens even if they weren't broody, what would happen? do u think they would attack the chicks or would their mothering skills kick in
