I have a black minorca that doesn't stand!
She's just about to start laying but she's
always been a bit off. She wont stand for long
periods of time and spends the majority
of the day laying on her side with her legs up.
She seems to get disoriented and just fall.
She eats and drinks fine and the other girls
help preen her and snuggle up with her.
At first it was just random fits, now its been
2.5 weeks of her just lounging. The only time
she has motivation to hop on the roost is at night.
Im not sure whats going on here, she wont
stand up to go to the bathroom either.

I'm sorry to hear that. It unfortunately sounds like marek's or some other disease that causes paralysis. The severity of it varies with the individual, some can stand for short periods, others can't stand at all. However, leg problems can also be due to injury, neurological conditions, genetic deformities, ear infections (loss of balance), and vitamin (riboflavin) deficiency.

I hope she gets better soon. Best of luck!

I know this is a late reply but gunter is fine and dandy even started laying. Not positive about the cause of why she had so many issues for a while but she's doing much better now, even moved up in the pecking order. It's been a while without any issues, added Oyster shells to our feed and she perked up.
