Should indoor quail eat outdoors sometimes?

My quail are indoors most of the time but I want to let them outdoors in a protected run on nice days. If they eat bugs etc. outdoors from time to time, will it affect their digestive system? Thanks in advance!

I've never tried quail, but I know someone who had some. His were fine, and could eat as much as any chicken.
I've never tried quail, so I wouldn't know.

A local pet shop had little quail eggs in a incubator, one hatching was while I was there.
