Should rooster/hen be together?

I have decided, after some years, not to continue with chickens. I am down to 1 older hen and 1 rooster. They have always been seperated but now I wonder if they wouldn't be happier together. However, she is blind in 1 eye. Would he hurt her as a "weak" bird? Should I just keep them sperate (although they are close by in same coop). Thank you for any advice!

What is his temperament? Is he older and was raised with her?
If he’s a gentle and kind rooster, I’d keep them together and keep an eye on them.

Yes, hes a sweet boy, at least with humans. They were raised near each other. He's free roaming today and he was right near her fence puffing his feathers and she was poking back at him thru the fence. I will try then!
