should the roosts bars be round?

I agree. Chickens poo a HUGE pile each and every night. When you decide on where to place your roosting pole, place it in a way that it will fairly convenient to clean under.

right well today is building day so I'll get the roosts up by the side wall and put my feeders 3 feet away from the last roost! and hopefully in two or three days i will have my very one chickens!!!

YAY so excited for you!

Have fun with the new birds!

Sounds like you got your perch situation handled but thought I'd chime in with my favorite perch solution, I use white PVC pipe 1" for the bantams and 1 1/2" or 2" for the standard fowl depending on breed. They seem to like it, I like it because there is no place for mites to live in the wood. For game breeds (modern, old english, american) I hang the perch from chains like a swing, makes them use their wing and chest muscles to keep their balance initially, which is wonderful to get nice, tight wing carriage (probably only worth the hassle for showing).
