ive had my buff Orpington rooster since it was a chick its about 2 years old and ever since he was small he was always friendly and easy going .. I have a big semi final show coming up in 2 weeks and he is entered in .. but just like in the past month or so hes being getting agresssive with people and me , for example he would attack me when id go to [pick hem up and claw me .. ive being told by a lot of people that he could win the show .. so any advice what I can do to stop him from being aggressive and mean . thanks

If he's going to a show he should have been pulled from the general population weeks ago. He should be in a small pen, a conditioning pen, to protect his feathers. He would have no females to lord over nor to protect. He should be "conditioned" which means more than trimming his toe nails and beak, it also means "conditioned" as in the Pavlov sense. Used to racket and noise. Used to been taken from the cage two times a day and handled. Trade hands, spread his wing, dress his comb and wattles, feel his keel, run your hand down his back, etc. Handling is all part of conditioning.

This take weeks before entering a bird into a show.

And in the US, (yes, I note you're in Ireland) there is no category for "roosters". No such thing. He'd got to be entered as a cock and the correct term useage is indeed important. Just sayin'.

If after a few weeks of conditioning, you find he refuses to comply, then you'll have to forget taking him for judging.
