Yes, I only have silkies so I know that they are not mixed with a different breed, sorry for the misunderstanding. When I said “mixed” I was referring to a chick with bearded and non-bearded parents. To me, my chicks look as if they have a little beard growing, along with muffs, but it didn’t seem as if that was the normal size it should be. If they were pure non-bearded, they would not have any fuzz under their beaks. The bearded gene in chickens is shown as incomplete dominance when mixed with different phenotypes such as nakedneck, or in this case, the non-bearded gene, which is recessive. Do you have a bearded silkie chick around the same age as my chicks I could compare them to?
