There are so many different intricacies and variations of feather patterns that it is fascinating. My first instinct is to look at the beauty of the whole bird almost from a distance, but then, when you examine them closer, you start to see the complexity of the patterns and how each feather is separate but works harmoniously with the others to create a stunning masterpiece of a creature. I would love to see your favorite plumages and know the breed of the bird(if you know it)!!

I have different varieties of silkies, defined different by feathers, as in cuckoos and mottled.


Silkie - cuckoo frizzle

Silkie - satin laced from a mottled pen, so probably carrying a mottled gene as he sure doesn't look like it.

Very pretty birds, I’ve never had silkies, and a frizzle Is on my list of “someday” birds!
