I adore Sebrights! They have to have easily become my favorite chicken so quickly. I love my two, but love to see more :) Show your pretties off here and tell me a bit about them. The personality of my pullet is that she is kinda low on the pecking order and stays back, kinda shy. But my cockerel, oh my goodness. What a personality! He is so sweet and cares for the girls so carefully, showing them food, rounding them up at night. Lovely little boy :)

This is one of the shots of him when he is older. The pictures of him (Nike) and Athena together are when they are younger. By this picture, he had already begun to show the girls where food was, in the earlier ones, he liked to nap beside Athena

Sorry about the focus! I didn't realize until too late it focused on the sticks in front instead of the chickens in back!

Sleepy Nike... letting Athena do the look out role, shame shame...

Nike is gorgeous but he does have the wrong comb type for a sebright. Does Athena have a single comb too?

I know he has the wrong comb type, and Athena does not. However, just cause his comb is wrong, I don't think that takes away from him. I've read that sometimes single-combs get mixed in sometimes. And, I know it's not the SOP, but I didn't breed them, I got them from a store, so I know they're not the best quality. One day, however, I hope to breed them cause I adore looking at them :love

Yes nothing harmful in the wrong comb. If you bred them you would end up with some rose combs and some single combs so that would be ok. What are their personalities like? I've read that they can be very flighty, which is one thing that has put me off getting any. I've always loved how they look though. Fertile sebright eggs are also very expensive where I live!

I'd be willing to pay, haha, I just love them so badly! Athena is an extremely flighty bird. She doesn't like to get close to people and often just sticks to herself whenever they are out foraging. Nike was always a lover of attention. He's very defensive of his girls and with attack anything that's a possible threat. He'll walk up to you and follow you around, but he doesn't do it so much anymore. Now, he'll just kinda watch you when you're walking around. He is so very sweet and gives food to the ladies when he finds it.
