You can saw his spurs. Use the smallest hacksaw you can find. Have a second person hold him while you saw each spur. About halfway down. Have some blood stopper or corn starch on hand to stop any bleeding that might happen (it won't be much). They have a wick like a fingernail. The spur will grow out again and you can repeat as needed. Much easier on your hens this way.
