Now is the time to show of your Dutch, Belgium or Japanese bantams , don't let your beauty or beauties be hidden away anymore smile.png. I'm sure they will all be beautiful however I will pick a winner at the end of June so hurry !!! :) :D :cd

We got those ones for $2 each as friends for our Brahma cockrel. However, he pays no attention to them, no matter how beautiful they thin they are. ;)

I agree. They are the most stunning coloration out of our little herd. This may be a weird question, but are they less common than other chicken breeds? Some sites I see list them as semi-rare, but I thought that they were common. Or do you think that this is just a regional thing that they are common. Living in Ohio, EVERYONE has Buckeye chickens, but, apparently, they are hard to come by.

Don't worry, its not a silly question. Many breeds of Sussex are listed as rare in America e.g speckled and the black Sussex but as I live in Sussex in England they are extremely common. If I go onto a American breed list many of the breeds that are very common here are listed as a rarity in America e.g some bantams breeds or dorkings and many more.

That explains a lot. It is kind of funny how so many people get chickens developed where they live. Sussex has Sussexes, Ohio has Buckeyes.

I do love my Sussex chickens though. They are a joy to have around and are incredibly friendly. I wonder why no one else has really commented in this post. In the original post, you said that Sussex chickens were bantams. I thought that these were too big to be bantams. Am I incorrect?
