Here's a pic of mine.
This was taken 5 years ago, the day they first went out into the run.......that's why there's grass. No grass since!
The top had 2 layers of netting......Topflight and then birdnetting. I thought it was really secure, but 2 weeks ago, a coon got in under the top netting. I think he climbed up over the coop or jumped from a low branch nearby. Since then, we have put welded utility wire over the top, and cut those lower branches.
You can see the 1/2" hardware cloth that I laid around the outside perimeter of the run. Grass has grown through it and you can't even see it now.......but nothing can dig through. The run walls are covered with 12 gauge welded utility wire and then covered with 1/2" hardware cloth.
I sure hope the fencing on top has made it more secure.

what you don't see is the six feet of plastic mesh used to tie retaning walls into the back of the wall that is a foot below the dirt and fastened to the 6 X 6's. the hawthorne will grow a root base that will help the mesh do it's job. inside the chain link is hardware cloth and any opening larger that an inch is covered with hardware cloth.

Well, this is what I've got. I have dogs outside most of the day also...

Plywood along the bottom. We should have painted it to make it last but when we have to replace it, we'll replace it with painted wood. The chicken wire is 1" the "roof" chicken wire is 2" I'm sure that if the climbing or digging sort of animal really wanted to get in, it would, though. That's what the dogs are for. Besides that, they're only allowed out there in the day time.
