I have had chickens forever but getting more into it lately. Just started hatching our own as we always started with day olds before. My question is where do people show their chickens? I've only seen shows for kids in county fairs, etc. Can adults show birds too?

Of course adults can! The showing you see kids do is just 4H "kid fun" type stuff. . . Real showing, like in APA sanctioned shows, is all adult stuff.

Whenever you hear of non-hatchery, show quality, or heritage words tossed around, that's all bred, raised, and exhibited by adults.

So where can you find shows? I haven't seen anything in our area but we are pretty out there in the boonies. Perhaps something in Denver since we are in CO?

find your local poultry club. you might do a google search for poultry clubs in whatever state you are in or near and go from there.
then join the club and you will learn all about poultry shows and who has showable birds in your area.
that's how I started.

Not a lot of shows in Colorado. All shows are listed in the poultry press.

Most shows have a youth and adult section for showing. Several large shows in my area have 3-4 hundred youth showing. Don

This is a very good FREE online poultry show magazine. It has a list of upcoming shows, articles about people and their birds and a lot more about showing poultry. It is a lot like The Poultry Press which is good too but you have to buy a subscription for it. Here is the link to the magazine! http://www.exhibitionpoultry.net/

By the way, just glancing at the magazine myself says there is a show coming April 30th at the Colorado State Fair grounds!

Not sure you can find show quality without breeding it on your own, but you can try to find chicks from breeder or maybe show quality parents from the club website of the breed you want to show.
