Showing Mix Breeds???

Well, I imagine it would be the one with fuchia feathers that are laced with lime green. (I think it is typically fed with radioactive isotopes, or maybe that was its parents

I was simply giving an example, but not one that could realistically be found or created without a couple of buckets of dye or paint.

Oh LOL. But wait im going more for the breed not color. I just felt like working with selfs. So for any other variety do I just create a name for the breed? If so it would be apreciated if you BYCers would start thinking of breed names.

At our 4-H show my son entered his EE's as Ameracuna mixes and my other DS showed his mixed indian runner/khaki campbell duck. The judge loved the duck so much he got BEST IN SHOW. Boy was the kid with the beautiful Seremas and call ducks that he had under a combination lock ticked off!

Well, showgirls (which are now considered a variety, not a breed due to breeding requirements) and sizzles were given names. As were New Hampshires, Isa Browns, Delawares, Australorps and all other breeds--just most were not named recently.

Names that make sense based on current variety names (such as my "lime laced fuchia") are better than something like "psycho-rainbow." Likewise, showgirls were named because they were designed to look like Las Vegas show girls. Sizzles are a concatenation of silkie and frizzle. Australorps are a concatenation of Australia and orpington.

showing mixed breed chickens - depends on the show. ABA or APA sanctioned shows...NO. But some county fairs - particularly in 4-H and FFA classes any kind of chicken is permitted.

4-H and FFA usually have competition for meat chickens - usually cornish cross. Most 4h/FFA shows encourage hybrid sex-link hens or pullets - usually show in pens of 3.

Some will allow single bird - cross or mix birds. If they do that - the chicken is judged on condition.

just depends.
