When I bought my house 2 years ago, it came with 3 hens. They are barred rocks. One of them has always been a shrieker. Her shrieks are similar to a peacock. I work from home and I find it annoying but I tolerate it. Now that many of my neighbors are also working from home, I don't want them to be annoyed too. Is there something I can do to stop this behavior? When she gets to shrieking I go outside to check and have never seen anything amiss. The shrieking isn't related to laying an egg. She doesn't do it before or at sunrise or after sunset, but during the day it can be at any time. I've tried squirting her with the hose, and she stops while the water is on, but starts up again soon as it's off.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Debbie

Sounds maybe like she's taking on the role of the rooster and is doing some territorial calling, and alarm calling possibly. You can't really do anything about it unfortunately except remove her permanently. Chickens are noisy cretures, especially this time of year.
