I assisted a shrink wrapped chick ( for the first time ever, did a ton a research before interviening) last night she slept for 8 hours after she was free from the egg then she perked up a bit ate a little and drank only 3 little drinks of water. Her neck keeps curling/ bending down to in egg position and one of her legs seems shorter she can't walk really good. Also seemed to have some sort of neurological tremors after drinking... do I go buy vitamins and try to help her along or is culling my only option. And is it wry neck is it possible for them to hatch with wry neck? And what do I do for her foot? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Hiya, and sorry your little chick is struggling.

First, yes, I would get some Poultry Cell vitamins for it and put it in their water every other day. 1 Tablespoon of it makes a half gallon, so you can cut that down if this is your only chicken. Otherwise, you can give it to them all.

When I had one somewhat similar, I put it back in the incubator for the day and it hugely improved. Later when we took it back out, it still wasn't walking but soon learned how to.

It's early yet so just try this for a day and see if it doesn't get past some of these issues.

Yes I have left her in the incubator, she fluffed up ate and I have just been repositioning her while she sleeps because she's so lethargic I will get vitamins for her tmro and hope for the best thank you! Anything I can do for her leg?

From my limited experience hatching, I'd wait and see how it responds to the electrolytes or even a splash of apple cider vinegar. Don't beat yourself up, if they don't break out on their own, there is often a reason. Best of luck.
She was at it for almost 20 hours and didn't even have a zip going around the egg I slowly and carefully removed the shell and the outer hardened membrane being careful not to break or tear the inner membrane so she could still soak in the blood from the vessels once her head was free I took breaks so she wouldn't stress and then finally got her out now I'm just worried that she has wry neck and a bum leg

It might be out of joint. I was hoping it would straighten out after more time in the incubator. There are articles here on how to fix that, but I'd give it a day yet.

Welcome. But don't wait more than a day as the earlier malformations in chicks are treated, the better the outcome.
Alright. I did just add some acv to her water and got her to drink a bit more so I'm hopeful! I'll keep an eye on her through the night. I incubated 20 eggs and had 13 hatch. I guess that's why she's having a hard time lol unlucky number 13 had zero problems with any of the others the other 7 eggs just never formed. ( my rooster is picky and favors certain hens)

Just a little update, after more time in the incubator and some acv added to her water her neck and leg are doing well. She's noisey today. Thanks everyone for your help!
