Just wondering having seen some different threads.

Does the shrink wrapping situation happen if you open the incubator once a chick has internally pipped or only when its externally pipped?

Does the shrink wrapping situation happen if you open the incubator once a chick has internally pipped or only when its externally pipped?

In my experience it normally happens when a chick has been externally pipped for an extended period of time without advancing to zipping. In my situation, it does not seem to correlate with the incubator being opened. Of course it is prudent to keep any openings to a minimum and as short a time as possible.
