Hi - I have a almost 4 week chick. No mites or lice standing asleep & puffed up. She is letting me hold her when normally she is very skidish and is hoping up my chest to try to sleep under my chin or on my shoulder. I got her in the mail about two weeks ago with another chick who is doing fine so far. Could the stress of shipping and new environment caused this? She was vaccinated for Mereks and coccidiosis. She had some blood in her stool. I have her separated no breathing issues or discharge, clean butt. Ideas?

I cleaned out the poop, not every poop has had blood in it, most look normal . I thought if they are vaccinated they can’t get coccidiosis?
I don‘t know if a vaccin works 100% of the time, in humans a lot of the vaccins do, but some don’t. Depending on the cause (influenza for instance only works for certain types) I just don’t know. Hopefully someone comes by who does. Maybe @casportpony knows?

a picture of the poop will still be a good idea

Thank you. Yes I was wondering if they can get it even with the vaccine. Other birds that I‘Ve had never had the vaccine or this issue. So any help would be welcome.

Since its summer, many animals do get coccidiosis, because it's very humid. They mostly get this under age 6 months. If temperature is 80-90 degrees fahrenheit, then there is a possibility they will get it. when ever you see blood anywhere, then clean it up right away, because this disease does spread really fast. If any other chickens pecks on the blood/poop then they will get it too. So try to clean the poop right away. If your chicken does survive this disease then in the future they will get another sickness and they might possibly die. Now to get rid of this sickness, you need to get Corid 20% (amprolium) Soluble Powder. You can get this from almost anywhere, tractor supply, walmart, amazon, etc.
