Sick and dead chicks

I hatched 14 chicks a week ago and gave half to a friend of mine the 7 i kept are all fine but of the 7 she took 4 have died and the last three are lathargic we are useing the same feed and bedding the only differance is she is putting acidifreed copper sulfate in the water. any ideas would be great help thanks

Why is this person adding anything to the chicks water at all??? Murray McMurray's site states that copper sulfate should not be given to baby birds under 3 weeks old, firstly, and secondly, it is for blackhead...not a typical chicken disease! That is what is killing those babies. PLAIN WATER is all they need!!!
