Hello everyone. I'm new here.Have a question have some ducklings that are a little over a month. Noticed one had it's eye closed yesterday when it was eating. Today I went out to feed them when it came up it was closed still and acted as if it couldn't see out of it. So I caught it and put a warm compress on it. But in the meantime it has horrible diarrhea. ( Help no idea what's wrong)

  1. Yes, They have been free ranging since they hatched.

Something maybe in the eye dust a speck of grass I'd use a saline wash and wash the eye out real well the recipe is 1 cup of warm water to 1/8th tea of salt mix well then pour slowly over the eye to wash it out. If this doesn't help you may have to examine you can also get Terramycin eye ointment at feed stores.

Thank you so much. When I brought it in to put warm compress on it's eye it started painting heavily. Is that normal? And will it be ok in the garage by itself for next few days. I have it in a large cage

Maybe you should try VetRX. I had a duckling who was free ranging with it's mother and siblings. It's eye started to slowly shut over a few days. One day I came out and it was complete shut and wouldn't open and had liquid coming out of it. I used VetRX on it, and within a few days it's eye was all better. I also recommend using vetRx on the rest of the ducklings to be sure no spreading.
