Sick Black Marans Rooster

My rooster has not been doing well for 2 weeks. He started having runny eyes, and then began to have runny dropping and then not eating or drinking. I went to the farm store and they sold me VetRx. I started using it as directed which was to put it on a swab and down his throat , and clean his eyes and comb and wattle with solution. Then put Sulmet which is sulfamethazine sodium in his drinking water. He started doing much better and I thought he was well. Today he started again having watery eyes and the pus forming again around his eyes. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next. I just love my rooster and hate to have him sick. Thanks so

it sopunds like it could be a respiratory thing I dont think Sulmet is the correct antibiotic, search CRD or respiratory disease and a bunch of stuff should come up. hopefully someone will chime in.

Oh, thank you. Where do I search CRD? At a vet supply or just google it?

Does his head have a bad smell?
Either way, get your hands on some Tylan ASAP. Or you might consider culling based on the carrier problems. At least make sure he is nowhere near the other chickens.

I agree with chookchick, make sure you separate him from the flock, so whatever he has doesn't spread.

My rooster doesn't have a bad smell or have any swelling. I'll get Rx tomorrow. Thanks
