Just got chicks for my first little flock. My mom always had chickens while I was growing up. The one Silver-laced Wyandotte is acting really funny. Super tiny, much smaller than the others, wont open its eyes, even when handled. Stands very wobbly, wont walk around. Gave her water on a spoon which she drank and a little crumb of food. I am not sure if it is sick because of not eating, gettting picked on or if she at some point got too cold. I have a light on them but the others seem to get too hot while that one has parked itself in the middle of the little area under the light. The others step on it and pick at it. Should I take it out? I kind of think I should but have very little experience with chickens. Cattle and dogs are more my area:/ Any suggestions? Oh and they are on medicated food, no vitamins yet, getting those tomorrow.

First of all, it's not too late until she takes her last breath. I had the exact same thing happen to us last year. Here is what I did: I got a small little box that I kept her in "inside the same brooder with the rest". If the others are getting out of the heat, then move her out as well. She is most likely too weak to do it on her own. Our little girl was smaller than the rest as well. I was very vigilant in keeping her hydrated with an eye dropper. I also would mash up the crumble and mix "it" with water so it was very thin. I would hand feed this to her as well. She did not make it, but I knew that I had done my best to make her comfortable, safe from the other pecking and trampling babies, and she passed with a comfortable full belly. We got her as a day old, and the next day she died. Not all chicks are strong enough to survive be we can do our best to give them a chance. Just remember, it's not too late until she takes her last breath. My children and I will be praying for her today. :hugs
