Hi all! I have a sick silkie chick that’s maybe a few days old. She was laying in brooder getting stepped on. So I got her out. Seems weak, I have mash made up and nutridrench trying to get her to take something. I have her in a small tank in the house w a heat lamp on her. Seems she can’t get close enough. Doesn’t want to eat but got close to light. Breathing seems a little labored. Any ideas on what to do? Should I have a friend with her??

I would give her a few drops of the NutriDrench and try to get her drinking some water by dipping her beak. Once she has some fluids then try to get her eating the mash. Check her vent for any pasty butt and clean if needed. Yes, having another chick with her would be good. What is the temperature under the lamp in the brooder? Make sure that it is 18 inchesor more above the chick.

Was the chick shipped to you, from a feed store, or did you hatch it? Hopefully you can help nurse it to get some strength to survive.

She ended up passing away thanks so much for the advice though!
