Hi. I have a chick that hatched around 30 hours ago. It is very weak. There is nothing obviously wrong like a discharge or bleeding. I t took ages to get out and I had to help it, the yolk had all been absorbed.

I have given it some sugar water. I am in the UK, so I cant get hold of most over the counter stuff you can buy in America. Any suggestions please?

Sometimes mother nature seems to know when to call it quits like them not making it out of the shell on their own. I am not saying give up but sugar added to the water is the only quick pick me up I know of short of going somewhere and getting Medicine or vitamins. Hope someone else has a good idea and good luck.

Thank you. I know they all don`t make it, but it doesn`t stop us wanting them to. I have got chick vitamins. I managed to find those.

Thank you again.

I am sorry if I sounded rude and you are most welcome. I just am a realist in that aspect and like I said, by all means don't give up. I never do, its just the way I am. I will try to keep an animal alive until it isn't. I know I have saved a few puppies and countless chickens because of this. Once again I wish you the best of luck.

You wasn`t rude at all. I am also a realist about things, but this is my first hatch to get to this point (disastrous first time around) I have held it in my hand for hours, fed it natural yoghurt and vitamins, and it seems to have perked up a bit. I think things aren`t helped as it has splay legs, and it keeps falling over. Luckily, the other 5 seem well, and are eating and drinking. I swear they have noticeably grown today.
