Sick Chick

I have 3 Speckled Hamburg chicks that are 12 days old.
One has developed a runny eye.
He appears normal outside of that, but the eye is halfway shut and he/she keeps rubbing it on his back.

any ideas?

Sounds like she may have something in her eye. Maybe a piece of bedding...or feather? Will she let you hold her and examine her eye closely!? Maybe a saline rinse is in order.

It could be conjunctivitis which is associated with a number of chicken illnesses. I would separate the chick out and if the eye does not improve within a day or two you might want to try Terramycin eye ointment. PM me if you think it might be an infection: I accidentally ordered two tubes of the stuff.
