got home tonight to an ill looking chick. It’s been hot but the others seem fine. She has her head down, stumbles when moves. Looks lethargic, out of sorts and has poor balance. She will let me come to her and touch and hold her which is different than normal. Thoughts?

Hi @Kozub01 :frow Welcome To BYC
Sorry that your pullet is not well.
What do you feed including treats?
Any chance that she something toxic, moldy or rotten?

It looks like she has Wry Neck to me, it's a neurological symptom - some common causes are vitamin deficiency, disease like Marek's and injury/trauma to the neck/head.

If she is not able to eat/drink on her own, you will need to help her. I would also give 400IU Vitamin E along with 1/4 tablet B-Complex. Offer a treat of scrambled egg while your at it.

Thanks for the reply @Wyorp Rock

I fed her more water last night with some supplements and separated from the others. She kept putting her head down and using her beak for support. It was sad.

I expected her to have passed away in the night but this am she was up and moving around like nothing happened. Energy level was back, she wasn’t as willing to be touched and just seemed like herself again.

We had neighbor kids watching our flock while we were gone and it looks like a ton of meal worms were gone. This girl is a particular fan of them too. I wonder if she overdid it along with the heat.

Other than that they get medicated feed bc they are still young and haven’t laid yet.

So glad she is doing better. Thinking of introducing her to the flock again this am.

Hard to know what happened there, I would put her back if she's acting normal and keep close watch on her for a couple of days.
