We lost Tina (a Marran) a couple weeks ago. She was being lethargic and had a runny greenish poo (dark green). She was very light and just wanted to sleep. Now one of our other hens Maggie (a white leghorn) is showing the same symptoms. Poo covered bottom, wet greenish looking poo, not eating and drinking and very lethargic. She still has a red comb and bright eyes. Any help as to what may be wrong ? X

Welcome to BYC. How are are the chickens that have died or been sick? Has the hen laying eggs recently? Green droppings are usually a sign of not eating enough. Are you able to feel food in your hen’s crop, and is is firm or puffy?

Feel of her lower belly to check if it is enlarged. Feel her breastbone area to check for weight loss.

Can you offer some wet chicken feed and a bit of cooked egg? Poultry NutriDrench vitamins with electrolytes can be helpful given a few drops orally up to 3 ml daily.
