I am new to having chickens. Took my two year old Red Sexed Link into the vet on Saturday. Acting sluggish, not eating or drinking much at all, very runny/whitish poops, comb is floppy and a darker, and she is laying down a lot. Just not her usual social self. He said he felt a mass in her lower abdomen and some fluid. He thought tumor or broken egg. He is leaning towards broken egg because she is only two years old. He said there is nothing to do but try and get her to eat and drink. I have had little success with either. Tried grapes, pasta, corn on the cob, separating her and keeping her with the other three ladies while eating. She has eaten a few raisins, goldfish crackers, and some corn bread. I am SUPER worried about her. She has only gone to the bathroom a few times in the last two days- all yellowish slimy fluid.
Also, brought in a small poop sample and he says chickens have coccidiosis also. No blood in anyone stool at all, not even sick chicken. They do have runny poops and missing feathers on their backsides, I though someone was plucking feathers so I have been trying to deal with that. Can they all have coccidiosis and not feel bad? I am treating the whole group but am worried. I have a fantastic 8 year old chicken and dont want to do wrong by her too.
Please, any advice would be HUGELY helpful
