Sick chicken, day 8

Hi everyone,

Thank you to those that have offered suggestions. She is still hanging in there, about the same though. She still eats great, poo is normal and I move her as often as I can. She is still unable to stand on her own, but she can put weight on her legs. She is not using her left wing, though. I have tried to soak her bum to keep it clean, but it is really hard to keep her clean. I clean up the poo so she is not in it too long, but some of it has gotten stuck to her bum and I am having a hard time getting it off. She seems to get really stressed when I have her in the water. Any ideas on how to get her cleaned up? She is still really skinny and has not put on any weight, is there something really fatty I can feed her? Like I have said before, I will go the distance to care for her, but I do not want her to suffer. Is there something I can look for to know that she is getting better? It has been close to three weeks now. Again, I am in no huury, I just would like to know what to look for, maybe some hope.

If she is eating great but really skinny she could have worms. Have you wormed her recently? If not you might want to do that. The worms can make her really weak.

Try feeding her scrambled eggs and dice up some lunch meat and buy some crickets and meal worms for her. They really need meat protein.

NO SCRAMBLED EGG, it will bind her up and then you will have constipation to worry about also. And!!!! You NEVER, NEVER, NEVER feed an animal it's own kind. Absolutely not, so don't do it or you will really be sorry. Can't say it enough.

Bread soaked in milk.
Shredded lettuce plus any other fresh tasty greens (remmeber she can't get her own right now).
Meat of any kind, preferably raw and alternate this with fish.
Corn.
A dish of soil and small stones in her pen.
Oyster grit.
Fresh water.

My boy was off his feet for 5 weeks.

What medicinal regime have you decided to employ?

Cheers
Lisa.
