We recently bought a lavender orpington at a TSC swap on Saturday. Rookie mistake, didn't really ask too many questions. We get home and check her out and she has lice, mites, and a respiratory issue. We are treating each issue right now but she has a white bump by her eye. Anyone know or seen this before? Is it serious? We do have her separated from the rest of our flock.

I cannot see the bump too well, but I have had a rooster with a similar looking cyst on the eyelid that felt hard and did not grow.
So you are seeing both lice and mites at the same time? Permethrin 10% concentrate mixed according to directions on the label, or permethrin poultry and garden dust both will treat lice and mites. They have to be applied at 7-10 day intervals, as well as cleaning out the coop and nests, and spraying those before adding clean bedding.

Yes to us it looks like both. Yesterday my wife put a home remedy that helped. We did see less mites today. I read that wood ash helps for both also. So I tried that today. We picked up some VetRx and applied that about 30 min ago. She was never put in my coop. When we brought her home I made a pen next to my house and have a coop I built in the garage that we put her in. Worked out perfect. We were fixin to paint it to put outside. I can try to zoom in on the picture better if you would like.

With an outbreak, I would use the permethrin. DE can be a problem when inhaled, and I don't use it. Woodash can help, but it may need to be used daily, and that also can be harmful with that often of use.
