HELP! We have an adult Silkie hen who has been off the past few days. She seems lethargic, hasn’t layed an egg, tends to hide in a corner. Before we noticed her being more lethargic she acted like she was trying to go broody which we didn’t want so we would remove her from the nest.

How old is she? How long since her last egg? What do her poops look like? How does her crop feel, and is it emptying overnight? Will she take some scrambled egg and watery chicken feed? Do you have other silkies in the flock, and is she bullied? I would get her drinking fluids, perhaps give some Poultry NutriDrench or electrolytes. Silkies will go broody all of the time in summer, so you need to break her when you don’t want her sitting, so she doesn’t become weak and malnourished. She could be sick, so keep an eye on the things mentioned above.
