Recently several of my hens have very messy bottoms. I thought they may be egg bound, they had all the signs. I did everything that is listed to do, soak in warm water, oil in food, etc. but one hen still died and three more seem to be on the way. Any suggestions? I feed them organic layer, they run free all day, I don't know what the problem could be. If anyone has ideas, please let me know. Thank you.

I had one about 2 weeks ago like that. I tried all the remedies for an egg bound hen and she never laid an egg, but she was back to normal in about 3 days. I really thought she was going to die but she didn't. The only thing is, she hasn't laid an egg since. So I'm not sure what exactly what was wrong with her.

I know you said you tried everything, but if you haven't already, put on a rubber glove and lube it with Vaseline. Then stick your finger in there to see if there actually is an egg. Sorry I couldn't be much help but I hope your girls turn out to be okay!
