I recently lost an entire bator of eggs and from all advice, it was contamination of bator that actually took over during lockdown and killed them all but one. This one had a rough time of it but is now almost 2 weeks old and is strong. Feeling sorry for it, I went to a friend who had chicks as well and bought a little d'uccle to keep the chick company. The d'uccle died in a few days. I called this friend who had an abundance and got two more d'uccles. Today I have one seeming to follow suite. Can the original one be contaminated from the bator still? And killing off the others? It seems so healthy now or are d'uccles very fragile with a large mortality rate? I need to put it out if that is the case because I have two additional flocks that I would intergrate them with at some point. Thank you so much

If the chick recovers, can it still pass what ever it had on to the others? I guess that would be my question.

From the research I've read on such things it depends greatly on what the chick died of. But there are some things that the recovered chick could now be a carrier of
