My chicken sweetpea had bubbles coming from her eyes sore throat dirraria. Took her to vet said most likely a respiratory infection contagious. Put her on antibiotics 7 days ago. Removed her from the rest of my flock then started the rest of flock on antibiotics. No other chickens sick as of now. Vet said she would be dead in 2 days. She had lost a bunch of wright. And not eating or drinking. But on the 4th day I decided to try and old remedy boiling rice and oats I added fresh ginger and garlic and several herbs and giving her the broth. She loved it. She has bounced back like a champ been eating for two days straight and gave her gateraid to drink. I am new at this she has one eye that still is not cleared up and still has a little caugh. How long does it take for a chicken to get over this type of illness and when can she go back to the flock. She had been in my house getting tinder loving care for 7 days. I did get some antibiotic ointment for her eye yesterday. Please help.

Why haven't any other chicken got sick. I thought this stuff would have gone through the flock by now.

My chickens are all under 8 months old. They seem a little thin. But eating good. It has been so hot here I though the weight loss could be from the heat. No sighs of illness yet. They did hVe lice treated the pin and them too. Could mites cause problems.

No. We only have two vets that see chickens. I believe she has my but not sure. I don't know how long it takes for them to get well. She is looking and felling a lot better. I just don't know what to do never experienced this before so I don't know when she can go back to the pin. And don't understand why no other chicks got sick. Complexes

If it is bronchitus then you have to keep her dry and warm. Might take a week or two to completely clear up.

Not sure if she can go back in with the others. Sounds like you just got a new house pet

Maybe you removed her before any other flock members could get infected. That's why they don't have any symptoms.

I believe she may have been sick a week before I caught it just didn't know the symptoms.
