Sick Duck

I posted this on the Emergency forum with not respose so I am going to try and post here. Hope that is Ok.

I have a mystery duck (I'm thinking possibly pekin) that is about 2 1/2 weeks old. He seemed ok up til yesterday. He was active but not as much as the others. Today he is just sitting by himself and breathing hard. Not eating and we are barely getting any water into him. Any suggestions about what to do?? Please help.

Perhaps he has a respiratory problem or he would be too hot. Either way I think he needs to go to the vet asap or he could die.

Could he possibly be sick and have pneumonia? I'm not sure but I agree you should take him to the vet if your really worried about him.

Glad to report that my ducky is doing better. The vet was closed today & they referred all emergency's to the animal hosp. that was unable to treat "exotic" waterfowl. A quick trip to the feed store resulted in a bottle of poultry-drench. With a couple doses of vitamins, rest and some TLC he is back to drinking water, walking a little and preening. He is still in the house with us in the doggie bed and hopefully he is on the mend. Now if he would just eat a little maybe I could quit stressing so much.
