Sick feeling y'all. Pleas HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Got home from work today and went to the chicken pen to check on them and my hen that is sitting and what do I see 4 of her eggs busted and dried on her. She has pulled about all of her breast feathers out trying to get the stuff off of her. The thing that got me was there was 2 of the eggs that she was sitting on moved to the nest beside her. What do y'all think moved them, would she move them? It was just a sick feeling to see my girl like that. I didn't see any of the baby chicks that would have been in the eggs anywhere as if the eggs got broke by something. I am just lost on this one. There is no way anything could have gotten in the pen either. What do Y'all think happen?

Is she on her own or is she in with other chickens? I have read that broody hens should be separated from the others when they are sitting on eggs. I just have chicks so far but I hope you get more replies with help.

Could a predator have gotten in with her? I had a weasel once harass a broody hen and steal some of her eggs.

No there is no way one could have. I live in south Georgia so we don't have weasels around here. Is there any reason the rooster another hen would have done it?

She is in with other chickens also.

I had the same thing happen to me today. When I came in the coop My broody was trying to get her nest box back that was being borrowed by another chicken to lay her egg. I picked the hen up to kick her out, and 5 out of 10 eggs were broken, and the remaining eggs were coated in goo. They were 4 days in, so I had to chuck them. These things happen unfortunately.

What I have read is just because they taste good. Hope this other thread helps. I am sorry for your loss. All I can think is you have an egg eater chicken if there is no way any predators could have gotten to them.

Hens fighting over the nest would break eggs. Chickens naturally eat broken eggs. If there were chicks in the eggs they got eaten. Sorry

I think that is what happen another hen laying in there done i. I put some eggs in another nest box so they will lay there. I cleaned the goo off the few that had some on them I hope they will still hatch but we will just have to see. The main thing that ticks me off is they didn't have but a few days till they would hatch.
